George Cadman appointed Chancellor of the General Synod

On November 27, the Council of the General Synod appointed Mr. George E.H. Cadman, K.C. as Chancellor of the General Synod as of January 1, 2026. He will succeed Canon Clare Burns, who will step down at the end of the year.

A lawyer with Boughton Law in Vancouver, Mr. Cadman has more than 40 years of experience in corporate, securities and real estate civil litigation. He also advises on governance and risk management in his capacity as general counsel for family-owned enterprises and community associations.

Mr. Cadman is a member of the Parish of St. Agnes in North Vancouver and has served as chancellor of the Diocese of New Westminster since 1988. In 2023, he was awarded the Anglican Award of Merit, the Anglican Church of Canada’s highest honour for lay people who have demonstrated exemplary service to the church at the national level.

I am very grateful for Mr. Cadman’s faithful willingness to serve as our National Chancellor and look forward to working closely with him in this transformational triennium.

Yours In Christ,
